ATTACKED BY SHARK
MONSTER RUSHES AT LAUNCH. SUVA, December 16. The members of a fishing party in. a launch near Taveuni recently had an •unenviable experience wlien their small craft wag fiercely attacked by a ’large shark. The boat was proceeding at about four knots when the shark, which measured 10 or 12 feet, darted straight at the revolving propeller.
The shark struck the launch such a blow that -it almost 1 ifte'cl th 0 stern out of the water. Tile fish mnd e five or six distinct attack* upon the vessel, with the result that some of the party became almost terror-stricken. Finally, the monster moved off, much to the relief of those on board, as they were then in deep water and a fair distance from the reef line, where they might fiav e had some chance of being saved had the shark (succeeded in overturning the boat.
