PERSIAN DISPUTE

BRITAIN’S OIL CONCESSION. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright; GENEVA, December 14. The Persian Government has instructed its Minister to reter the oil '(l.is’pute to the League of Nations. The Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Captain Eden, stated in the House or! Commons that, in view of the intimation contained in the reply of the Persian Government they contemplated an appeal to the Council of tlie League of Nations, which would entitle tlie Persian Government to require the suspension of any proceedings instituted before the Permanent Court of International Justice, the British Government has decided not to pursue its demand for the reference , of the case to the Permanent Court, but, instead, to refer the matter to tile Council of the League. A t,elegram has accordingly been despatched to the Secretary-General of the League. A Geneva message states the subject has been placed in the agenda of the present session of the Council to be dealt with next week.

MEXICO LEAVING LEAGUE, MEXICO CITY, December 14. An official declaration is expected on Thursday by Mexico of her withdrawal from the League of Nations owing to the necessity in economy.
