Hawlce’is Bay won the toss against v/.nterbury and batted on a 1 g-cod wicket in fine weather. Dunstcr replaced R. O- Tb.lbot in the Canterbury team.

Crumb and Merritt bowling -well kept the batsmen quiet. After an hour’s play the score was 2 for 54. An hour and a half’s play yielded 101 runs for five wickets, of which L. V.
