SIX MEN CHARGED

'Charges were proceeded with today against six men -arrested in connection with the attempted march‘ on Parliament last Saturday. A ill pleaded guilty to each of -the counts against them.
Mir Huidey, who appeared for four of trie meudsed, intimated that he would submit -legal argument at the conclusion of the oases, to show that there had been no actual procession, and that defendants, therefore, could not be charged with taking part in an unauthorised procession.
Detective-Sergeant Tricklebnnk said that, on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, the /police went -round the relief works and warned the men tir'd a demonstration would not be allowed. Notwithstanding this the crowd assembled at Cambridge Terrace, and it was broken up by the police, but 'some of the men persisted in marching through the street.
Accused were John LightfooL aged 55, a labourer, on a charge of being a rogue and vagabond in that he was found armed with an -offensive weapon, _.a baton—with felonious intent ; Roy Evans, ased 27, -a labourer charged with wilfully obstructing Det-retive-8-rgeant- Tricklehar.k in the execution of his duty, and inciting John James porier to resist Detective-Sergeant Tricklebank in the execution of his duty; Porter, aged 27; William Herman Gladwin, aged 27: Charles Thomas Holden, aged 56, (all seamen) ; and William Beniamin Arthur Wilkinson: aged 36. a labourer each charged with behaving in a disorderly manner in a puhhV place, and taking part in an unanthorbod procession. ‘ ,
