When the sloop Laburnum was van- 1 chored at Kawau this evening, Petty Officer W. Hitchcock became suddenly ill, and the vessel made a hurried return to port. The Laburnum left Kawau at 8.45 p.m., arriving in the harbour at 10.45 p.m. A pinnace from the Diomede was waiting, and Hitch-, cock, whoso condition was serious, was rushed ashore to the waiting ambulance He was admitted to Auckland Hospital.
