BESETTING CHARGE

As the result of incidents alleged to have taken place in the vicinity i f Longburn Freezing works this inorning, William Frederick Watson, and Oswald Saunders appeared at the Magistrate's Court, charged with besetting freezing workers. A remand was granted till Decepiber 13th. Bail was allowed each in £2o() and two sureties of £IOO each.
CATHOLIC SCHOLARSHIP.
AUCKLAND, December t.
Two residential scholarships of £6O per annum, given by Marist Brothers, and tenable at the Sacred Heart College for three years, have been won by Vincent ijjtoigard, of Matamata, and Kevin McCarthy, of Auckland.
The scholarships were open to camdates from Roman Catliolie schools throughout the Dominion, and about sixty competed.
