GOLD FROM EARTH

SCIENTIST'S UNPROVED CLAIMS

'PARIS, November 28. After several months’ investigation, three scientists have reported that Professor Dunikowsld’is claims to obtain gold from earth are undoubtedly without foundation. They declare that the so-called discovery is a mere hoax. Dunikowski is still in prison. Professor Paul Dunikowski, of Poland was /arrested and placed on trial in Paris in January last for allegedly having obtained money from a French company by fraudulently representing that lie could obtain gold from earth. Later Dunikowski revealed his process, which consists of, roughly speaking, earth in a layer, two inches thick, on a moving platform under electric lamps, which discharge long sparks into the earth. Tho earth then drops into a graphic cauldrou, where it is sealed rnd heated to a terrific temperatude. When the cauldron is oooled and unsealed, the earth has diminished in volume, and specks of gold are visible.

Dunikowski occupies the best cell in Saute Prison. Paris, and is allowed to lunch with his wife and children.
