A bushman, Abraham Hudson, 42, married, was injured at his work yesterday morning. • He sustained a lacerated wrist, and injured arm, while in the bush at Kokiri. Hudson was attended by Dr. Wilkinson, and admitted to the Greymouth Hospital shortly after 11 o’clock, his condition being reported as satisfactory,
A boiler-maker, Francis Stanton, 27, while at his work in the railway workshops, at Elmer Lane, Greymouth, yesterday morning, dislocated a shoulder. He is married, residing at Town Belt, Just how the accident happened, is not known, as Stanton was working alone at- the time. He underwent an operation yesterday afternoon, at the Greymouth Hospital.

In compliance with numerous requests the members of St. Paul’s Dramatic Glub have consented to repeat the performance of “Turned Dp” at the rrincess Theatre next Tuesday evening December 6t>h, when the proceeds will be divided with the Hokitika Swimming Club, which is much in need of funds. Nominations for all events the two days of the Westland Racing Club s Christmas meeting close to-morrow (Friday) night at 9 o’clock with the Secretary, Mr D. J. Evans. A copy ol the programme appears in this issue. December 26 and '27 will be the race days, both days being public holidays this year owing to Christmas Day falling on Sunday, and being observed the following day, while the Boxing Day holiday will be , observed on Tuesday. Special train arrangements are being made for the race meeting.
The death occurred at Westport suddenly, yesterday, of Mrs G. McKay, a sister of the late Hon. R. J. Seddon. Mrs Mackey was 77 years of age, and had resided ,in Westport for many years. She leaves three sons, (George and Richard, Westport, and John, South Africa), and six daughters (Mesdames L. Nahr and L. Spentm, Westport; Rumbold, Christchurch; Wogan, Wellington; Miss Mackay, Wellintgon ; and Miss Jessie Mackay, Westport).

The local Croquet Club held a very successful a.-ternoon yesterday, the function having been postponed from last week owing to the inclement weather. There was a large attendance of members and friends. The lawn was looking in capital order, and is proving very satisfactory. A number of competitions were held, which proved veiy enjoyable. Afternoon tea was seived during the course of the proceedings. The Hurry Scurry was won by Mesdaines Robinson and Nightingale, the Hoop-running by Mrs G. A. Terry, and the Golf Croquet by Mrs Garnet Periy. It is intended to hold a- “social afternoon” once a month during the season, the next to he held sometime in January.
