'OUTSTANDING DETECTIVE WORK. PICTON MURDER SOLUTION. (Per Press Association — copyright ) BLENHEIM, November 30. At the conclusion of the trial of Edvard Tarrant for murder at Picton, Mr Justice Blair invited Sub-Inspector Ward, Detective-Sergeant Jarroid, Sergeant Petersen, and Detectives Sinclair and Hall to his chambers for the purpose of personally expressing to tnem ,his appreciation of the remarkable detective work accomplished. His Honor mentioned that Sir Frederick .Chapman, a retired Judge, possibly one of New Zealand’s greatest criminal Judges, had expressed the opinion that the detective work displayed in the Tarrant case made it cue of the most outstanding in the history of crime in the Dominion. His Honor stated that he intended to write to the Commissioner of Police recording his appreciation of the officers’ services. |
