INDIAN AGRARIAN SITUATION.
ASSUMES SERIOUS PROPORTIONS United Press Association —By Electric ’Telegraph—Copyright.’ CALCUTTA, November 28. The agraiiian situation in Alwar State, as cabled on Saturday, is assuming serious proportions. Thousands of armed Hindus and Moslem peasants of splendid physique, in a fighting spirit, are concentrating in an area of 32 square miles to repel the State tax gatherers. The roads by which lorries; are bringing troops there have been made impassable. The passes are blocked by huge boulders, and ati intervals along the hills remote from the towns there are watchers to give warning of the' approach of troops or of revenue collectors. The peasants are demanding an inquiry into their grievances! under the chairmanship of ati Englishman from British India. GANDHI TO' FAST. AGAIN. RE-ITERATION OF THREAT. (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) CALCUTTA, November 29. Gandhi, in a fresh statement from the Yerveda gaol, re-iterated his intention to begin another fast on January 2nd. unless, by that date, the Hindu temple at Guruvayur, in Madras, is opened to outcasts or untouchables.
