CHILD DROWNED

GISBORNE, November 28
Through the overturning of a canoe on Te i-uia Lake, a 10 year-old girl, Deris Perston, was drowned. With her companion, Mary Maurirere, 15, the deceased was bathing in the lake and the younger girl climbed into the canoe, which drifted into deep, water and capsized. The little girl was unable to swim and alter an unsuccessiul attempt to rescue her, the elder girl ran for assistance, returning with a Maori lad who dived and recovered the body from deep water.
BODY FOUND.
THAMES, November 28.
A body clad in a bathing suit, praisumed to bo (lei m wade, who disappeared at Takapuna on the 17th, was found at the relief works at Whanga. lnuni beacr, Coromandel, on Sunday morning. It was decomposed'and identification was difficult. The inquest was adjourned.
