In the cricket match at Ross at the week end, Mortimer, bowling for Hokitika, had hard luck in not securing the hat trick. He secured four wickets with five halls of the last over, taking a wicket -with .each of the first two balls, then missing with the next hall and then securing two further wickets in succession:—s balls, 4 wickets.
