EVENING SPORTS
An earnest endeavour is being made to popularise athletic sports again in Hokitika, and on Wednesday evening the Cycling Club will open with three cycle races, a ladies’ 50yds handicap and a slow cycle race. Generous prizes are offered and the. Turner Cup will be included in the cycling. The Fire Brigade will supplement the next programme with an event and running will be catered for if sufficient inducement is offering. The Hokitika Band will also be in attendance and patrons can look forward to the last hour and a half of Wednesday daylight for sport and fun.
The handicaps for the 1, and 2 miles are as follows: J, Hvaill scr., E. Cook and S. Havell 10, 20, and 40yds, E. Olsen and R. Olsen 20, 40 and 80; K. Hewlett and F. Saxon 30, 60 and 120; C. Cook, G. Collett, R. Little, C. Hodgson, 50. 100, 200; P. Diedrichs, A. Johnson, M. Smythe 60, 120 and 240 The first race starts at 6.45 sharp.
