Ross Gold.—lt is reported that Goughian and party have struck payable gold in their claim. A numbe. of claims were marked out last night.
Westland Hospital. —At a ■ specie meeting 0 f trustees last evenng, Mis Isabel J. Irvine, chief nurse, Hoki tika, was appointed matron of th> institution. Borough Council. —The Hokitika Borough Council met last evening when the following local body representatives wer§ appointed: Charitable Aid Board. Messrs Lloyd, Robinson and McGregor; Westland Hospital Trustees,Messrs Beare and Bock; Hokitika Benevolent Institution, Hr Macandrew Kurnara Hospital Trustees, Messrs G. Barker, and C. E. Evenden. County Council. —The Westland Council appointed its representatives a s follow Charitable Aid Board, Messrs J. F. Byrne, J. Staines, T. W. Huff, , and T. J.. McGuigan; Hospital trustees, Messrs J. J.. Breeze and Messrs-Rouse and Mcgione; Benevolent Institution, Mr McGuigan. Cycling.—A meeting was held last evening when it w,s decided to foim the Speedking Cycling Club. The fallowing office! s were elected;—President, Mr H. t. Michel. vice-presi-dents, Messrs J. J. Mclntosh, J. JBreeze, G. H. Eisfcf.der, H. Jones and 'H: Thompson ;■• eaptaai, l‘V- C«. Tennis.—The. following will represent the Hokitika Ten; s Club at Greymouth next Monday:—Mesdames W. E, Williams, J. E. Renton, W. Wilson, Misses L. Michel and F. Leu is, Messrs Newman, Rice, Wake, Merten, Wilson end Chesnoy.
Returned Troopers.—The third annual re-union of the Returned Troopers Association 1 tool! place lest evening at the Red Lion Hotel. There was ?.■ large attendance, visitors being present from Greymouth. A long toast! list was honoured, and many bright speeches wer3 made, the toast of “the honoured dead” beng drunk in sil nee.
Tenders.—Tenders are invited for the erection of two churches, one at Kokatalii. and one at Koiterangi. Plans and specifications can be seen at .the New Zealand Clothing Factory.
