MEAT PRICES

In th;e House of Commons, Major Elliott, for the Government, stated that a committee representative of the meat trade was being approached to watch the problem of retail prices in connection with the operation of the schemes of the Meat Restriction Committee.. This 'Committee would be chosen from representatives of all of the bodies engaged in rhe handling of meut, including the co-operative stores, the big or little shops, the Marquis of Linlithgow being the independent chairman. It was desired, he said, that the interest® of the consumer should be kept closely in front of the picture, and the Committed would do that. The Government were determined to grapple with the problem of prices, which, it believed was a fundamental problem to-day.
