RUGBY, November 23. The Prime Minister, in referring to schemes for the alleviating of unemployment, more than once mentioned the promotion of the coal-hydrogena-tion process for the extraction of petrol and other oils' as a means of stimulating 'the mining industry.
The extension of land settlement and of allotment .schemes, and the encouragement of home, crafts in rural areas as a means off providing useful occupations and of maintaining the morale of' tlw people;’ li.ve ’hlsp'amoh'l the proposals, Lord Hmlsham stated that 60,000 unemployed now possessed garden allotments, and- said the Government hoped during the coming year that -30.C00 additional allotments would 'be provided
