President Ilindenburg has rejected ■ Hitler’s proposal. “I cannot give a party leader Presidential powers. 'Such a Cabinet -would be bound to develop party dictatorship and increase the 1 ten si on .among \tli3 people. I cannot take the responsibility for s*ieh a course, -before my oath and conscience.” Nazi* accuse Ilindenburg of playing an unfair game and state it wa-s never intended to give Hitler that power.
