“Airplanes will be cheaper than motor-oar's available in 1933,"’ says the “Daily Express” aviation expert. “It is estimated that 150,000 young men and women would be flying if it were as cheap as motoring. The engine of a. light aircraft costs £3OO, while a motor-cycle engine could he fitted at a cost of £25. Aircraft are already tested which are marketable in mass production at probably £IOO. Admittedly they would he unsuitable for long distances, hut quite suitable for short business and pleasure journeys.” Five firms are developing aircraft iat prices ranging from £l5O to £3lO, compared with the cheapest marketed at £550 at present. __
