MAN ESCAPES; COMPANION SHOT

GIBRALTAR, Nov. 15

Robert Young, a native of L,'ov>den--I,Fife,,Fife, lias been brought into Gibraltar by a Swedish ste.mer after an e-cape from the French Foreign Legion. He was accompanied by. an Italian, who was shot dead when liberty was in sight.

Young, it is related, swam out into the Straits of Gibraltar, before being, picked up by the steamer. He is now suffering from rheumatism, and is in hospital.
