NAPIER, November 17. Concussion was sustained by a 14-yeac-old boy, Gavin Stuart, this evening, when he was hit on the side of the head by a 161 b hammer, which had been thrown by an athletic named Campbell, when practising on McLean Park, at the conclusion of the Napier athletic meeting. As Campbell was about to throw the hammer, he either slipped or the hammer left, in a direction he did not expect, and went towards two boys ,sitting on a fence 50 or 60 yards awav. Both boys were knocked from the fence. Stuart was struck on the side of the head, while the ether ho v was struck only by the chain. The latter soon recover'd, but Stuart was removed to the hospital. His condition is serious.
