NEW PREMISES
CUNARD HOUSE.
The Cunard Line and its associated companies moved, a few weeks ago, into new premises in Leadenhali Street, London. Cunard House as the new building i s called, was conceived in prewar days, but it was not until after the ivar that the actual planning and construction were taken in hand. Historical interest attaches to the new site, for on part of it stood the first synagogue built in England after the readmission of the Jews, and a tablet is to be placed on the wall of the Cunard building to record this fact. On the ceiling in the main shipping hall are painted the arms of Oreat Britain and the dominions, the principal countries served by the famous shipping company. In the board room are pictures of old-time Cunarders and a great, loving cup presented to Samuel Cunard by the citizens of Boston 1 in recognition of his enterprise in starting an Atlantic line in 1840.
