INFANTILE LIFE,
IMPROVING AT NAURU.
: GENEVA, [November 8. Sir Donald Cameron, the former M.H.R. for Brisbane, told' the Mandates Commission to-day that as a result of the decrease in the infantile mortality on. Naum, the indigenous Imputation of the island had increased 50 per cent, since 1921.
The administration, he said, was taking steps to cope with the spread of tuberculosis. The commission thanked Sir Donald and Australia, for the satisfactory report.
CHEW RESCUED

VANCOUVER, November 4
A gallant rescue of the crew of a stricken vessel during a gale was effected by the Sydney steamer Wiaihertio.
The rescued men were the Japanese crew of the fishing vessel New Westminster.; The boat’s engine became disabled on the high seas and ©he was drifting steadily towards the rocks. Cleverly and nt great risk, the Waihemo was manoeuvred into close quarters, a line waft) passed to the Other vessel and it was towed to shelter.
The Waihemo was on a voyage from Vancouver to New Zealand and Sydney. Her master is Captain Flynn. 'Em ship is a Union Company freighter of 5627 tons gross.
