ART UNION WINNER
\ FORMER CABINET MINISTER
WELLINGTON, November 15 - According to a list published in the '‘London Observer" of October 9, Sir William Nosworthy, of Ashburton, New Zealand, won a consolation prize of £IOO in the. Irish Sweepstake. Some of Sir William's old colleagues ' have banteringly recalled the fact that he was a member of the Coates Cabinet wnen it decided to cease issuing permits for art unions in New Zealand. Art unions on a large scale were not recommended until the United Cabinet took office in 1928.
The only other New Zealander i° the list i*i a prize of £llOO to "Irish Paddy, 21 East Street, Newtown, Auckland.
