BOYS INJURED
STARTER’S GUN DISCHARGES
AUCKLAND, November 8,
The unexpected discharge of a starter’s gun during the Wakatere Canoe Club’s races at Narrow 'Neck Leach resulted in painful but not serious injuries to two small boys. Ronald Agate, aged 11, -received powder bums on the face, and Max Stewart, aged 9, suffered .similar injuries on both arms. Both boys reside in Narrow Neck,
The canoe race had been in progress some time and four small boys , were standing near the starter .watching the canoes, when the starter’s gun went off without warning. The two boy s standing nearest were burned (by the. powder, while the other two escaped uninjured. After receiving medical attention the boys returned to their -homes.
