A committee representing, over .fifty inter-State organisations expressed disappointment at the proposed reduction of Federal Land Tax. Total abolition is considered the only remedy.
BACON WORKS’ STRIKE
MELBOURNE, November 12
Employees of bacon curing works of two Ballarat firms struck because the employers ..refused a ten shillings weekly increase in their wage which is now £4 5s 6d ; A meeting of employers decided tp close all works in thpi State, immediately placing idle five Hundred men.
DOUGLAS CREDIT SYSTEM
SYDNEY, November 12,
The assistant Treasurer, Mr Spooner, promised, a deputation- that th e Douglas credit system would be submitted to the Government .statistician for an independent report.
