DEHORNING CATTLE

WELLINGTON, November 10. In the Legislative Council yesterday, the Customs Amendment Bill was received from the House and read a first time.

In the House of Representatives,. Mr Alaclnillaii introducing the Dehorning of Cattle Bill, explained that meat exporters, hide clealel's, FatmeiV Union, S.P.G.A, and other organisations favoured the measure. said it was estimated that injuries to cattle were responsible for the loss of fifty thousand a year which would be avoided if the provisions of the Bill were put into effect. The Bill was read a first time.

It was then read a second time pro forma and referred to the Agrcultural Pastoral and Stock Committee.

The report of the Privilege Committee (telegraphed on Friday morning) weer adopted. Rent Restriction Bill and Pension Amendment Bill were put through all the remaining stages without amenument atid passed. The House rose at 11.35 p.m.
