When he was eventually liberated he lodged *;>, protest with the police authorities, and' received an answer to the effect- that by an accident lie had served twelve hours over the preTilled tinl-e, and that should he again come before the courts and b? found guilty, the twelve- houns standing to his- credit would be deducted from the new sentence.
