Strong protests against the Government Superannuation Funds Bill were nu\de by the A.S.R.S. to-day, before a Select Committee of the House which is hearing evidence concerning tlie proposalsThe secretary of the' Association, L. Melloride, stated in evidence this morning .that if the National Expenditure Commissions recommendations were given effect to, they would defeat the underlying principle of the superannuation fund scheme, and sow see-dis of dissension and revolt throughout the civil service, anddestroy the reasonable expectations of lives of the lower paid men. Interference with the original contract would destroy the people's confidence in sac-redness of the British Governmental contracts and create grievous antagonisms and strife. He submitted that contributions to the fund should have the right to reconsider their position and be allowed to recover their payments to the fund so as to be, able to make other arrangements for their old age.
