“I have been in this House for many years, but seldom have I seen a Prime Minister adopt such a dictatorial attitude on a matter vitally affecting thousands of men and women in New Zealand,” said Mr J. McCombs (Lab., Lyttelton) in the House to-day in protesting against the Prime Minister’s refusal to allow his Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration . Act Amendment Bill (No. 2) to go to the Labour Bills Committee for the taking of evidence. Mr McCombs admitted that since the passage of the legislation of last session virtually abolishing the Arbitration Court some of the Employers’ Associations had shown a. certain amount of moderation, but he declared that the president of the Employers’ Federation had recently stated that what had been done so far was only preliminary and that the employers intended to go much further when they come to rut their fu'l policy in operation. “I bel eve it will be. one of the greatest disasters that has ever overtaken tb - Dominion, he concluded. ■
