WELLINGTON, November 9.
In the House of Representatives yesterday the Poultry Amendment Bill was introduced by Governor-General’s message, and immediately after being read a first time, it was read a second time pro forma and referred to the Agricultural, Pastoral and Stock Committee.
The Poultry Amendment BilV provides for an annual registration fee of 2/6 to be paid for every run where there are under one hundred fowls, with an additional 2/6 for each additional hundred. Keepers of fewer than twelve fowls are totally exempted, while in certain cases, for instance where owners have been , unemployed for three months or longer, the exemption is increased to 35 fowls. Provision is made for setting up a Poultry Board, consisting-of two Government representatives and four appointees of the New Zealand Poultry Association to administer the Act and develop the industry. The Board is authorised to pay subsidies on eggs for export. " /' - The Customs Acts' Amendment Bill was put through the remaining stages and passed without amendment. The House rose at midnight.
