CANDIDATES FOR LEGISLATURE.

WELLINGTON, November 8. The Press Association’s Apia correspondent states: — Nomination for the Legislative Council have closed. There were five candidates. —Samuel Hornell Meredith, merchant; Robert Graham Bruce, merchant; Irving Hetherington Carruthers, merchant and planter; Alan Ridge Cobcrbft, planter; and Robert Carl Wctzell, planter. The electoral roll closed with 172 names. There are only two elected members on the Council. With) five candidates in the field, the contest will be interesting, more so than in previous elections. The poll will take place on November 9.
