THROUGH HUSBAND’S NEGLIGENCE.

11 (Per Press Association— Copyright.) INVERCARGILL, November 7. In the ’Supreme Court to-day John Reid 'Keown was found guilty of negligently driving a motor gar at Otamita on September 7, thereby causing the death of ‘Matilda Keown, his. wife. The jury made a’ strong recommendation t 0 mercy. His Honour said’that the accused had already been greatly punished by the loss of his wife’,''and. he proposed to give effect in the fullest measure to the jury’s recommendatibn. His Honour fined Keown £25, suspended his present driver’s license, which expires on May 31 next; and declared him to be disqualified from obtaining a further license for five years after that date.
