RED ANNIVERSARY
CLASH WITH MELBOURNE POLICE SYDNEY PROCESSION ABANDONED (Australian F;ess Association.) (Received this day at 9.25 a.m) SYDNEY, November 8. Rumours of intended Communist demonstrations throughout the city in commemoration of the anniversary of the Russian revolution led to the disposition of one thousand police to various points with reserves, ready to go anywhere they were needed. As a result the demonstration • march was abandoned, and various small meetings passed off without incident. At Melbourne, about four hundred Communists clashed with the police, arid inspector Corey was injured about the face. Two Communists were sent to hospital, afid five Were attested.
