ADDINGTON STOCK SALE. PRICES EASIER. , (Per Press Association — Copyright.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 27. At Addington stock sties yesterday, conditions were most unpleasant, a steady downpour making the task of auctioneers and buyers alike an unenviable one, and taking much of the appearance away from the stock offered. The entry of fat cattle was head —larger than that of last week, and again included North Island representation. Over 70 head were forward from that source —mainly steers —while Otago and Southland forwarded many lines of prime cattle. The competition was brisk and values for steers were fully up to last week’s basis of values and in some instances slightly better. For cows and heifers the demand was more restricted and values for them were not quite as pood on the whole as those ruling at the last market. A line of 49 steers from the North Island brought from £9 7s (id to £ll 7s (sd. Brimest steers maintained late rates. Rest heavy steers sold to £l.l 0s Od, prime' £9 15s to £lO 7s od, medium £7, 5s to £8 ss, light from £5. Rest heifers sold to £9 2s 6d, prime £6 10s to £7 ss, medium £o to £6 2s 6d; light from £4 10s. Best heavy cows sold to £8 17s 6d, prime £5 10s to £6 15s, medium £4 to £5, inferior from £3. The entry of vealera was a small on e and quality was very mixed. The sale was a good one, and values advanced by os a head all round. The top price was £5 3s Gd. There was another large yarding of fat lambs. Over the first half of the sale the demand was brisk and prices were un to a shilling a head better, but later on the inquiry slackened, and prices were about on a par with' last week’s rates. The quality of the* yarding was good. Best heavy lambs sold to 18s 4d, prime 14s 4d to 16s, medium 12s 6d to 14s, light from 10s 6d. *

There was a. smaller yarding of fat sheep, butchers competing more keenly and a hardening was shown. There was. a. larger yarding of fat pigs, .especially of porkers. The market was easier. Baooners showed a sharp decline. Choppers sold £2 to £3 16s; baconers B°s 6d to 40s 6d, heavy £3 to £3 os 6u; porkers 24s 6d to 30s 6d, heavier 32s 6d to 36s 6d, extra heavy t0.38s 6d. There was a small yarding of store pigs. Values wore at late rates. ARAHURA FAT STOCK SALE. There was a representative attendance of butchers at the Aralmra sale yesterday afternoon when 66 head' of cattle and 23 sheep were offered to public competition. Prices were much in keeping with those recently recorded at this fixture. The quality was all that could he desired and any easing in prices was for heavy ox beef. IV. Jeffries and C'o. sold as follows:—For F. 'Butler, 14 hoggets at 11s 9d, 9 dry ewes at Ss 6d (all shorn), For a client, 1 cow at £7 2s 6d. For H. H. Busch, 3 bullocks at £8 2s 6d. For J.
