AMENDING BILL FINANCE DEBATE CONTINUED. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) WELLINGTON, October 27. In the House of Representatives yesterday, Mr McKeen (Labour) introduced lie Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment 81l (No; ’3). He said the object of the measure -was to meet a number of anomalies which had arisen as a result of the passing 01 last session’s act. The position at present was that on the parties failing to reach an agreement and declining to refer the master to the Court, tqe award became cancelled. The Bill provided that, before any award could be cancelled, a ballot should be taken •among the employers to determine whether they desired cancellation to take place.
The existng law left it in the hands of a few employers t 0 prevent an •agreement 'being reached, .whereas it was likely that a majority of the employers were desirous of a settlement. The Bill’was read a first Lime. The judicial proceedings (Regulation of Reports) Bill (Mr Fraser) was read a second, time pro forma and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee, The financial debate was oontinued and fvas adjourned when the Rouse roto at 11.10 p.m.
