UNLICENSED WIRELESS
AERIAL. UNDER FLOOR. AUCKLAND, October 25. :' Fines -ranging from £1 and costs to J 32 and costs were imposed on 18 owners of unlicensed' wireless sets, who appeared in the Auckland Police Court recently before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M.: ■ . ’ . ■ Several of the defendants claimed that the salesmen from whom they had purchased their sets had given, them to understand that there was no need to 'Hurry in connection with obtaining 4 license. ’ The magistrate pointed out that the onus was .on the purchaser, and that a license must be taken out'after the set' had been 1 in - xie© for seven days. The inspector said that in one in* stanw a defendant had concealed his aerial under tlie floor of his ' -house, while another had the set hidden in a cupboard, with the aerial wires arranged between the roof an J the ceiling. In this particular os>' T e there was absolutely nothing to indicate the presence of a set to a casual visitor.
