The executive of the Farmers’ Union met to-day, and placed on record thenappreciation of t)he j services rendered by Sir Francis Boys, of Christchurch, who represented the Union in an advisory Capacity -at Ottawa. Mr, \J ; f-Pplson, 'M.P., -recommended the setting up of a permanent committee to deal with questions of national importance, -and -aid that he would move, at a later stage in this direction. •He said that the outlook for the coming season was most serious and ||hp position was becoming isueh that ’farmers could not ibe b'-amed lor demanding that further consideration should be given to them. Rural Telephones were disebssed, and it was agreed that the matter would probably 'right 'itself, and 'the meeting to tak e no further action. A edmmittee. was set up'to report on the- subject of the central bank on lines of the Nlemeyer report. Mr Poison said that the Union should define Its 'nttitud e before the matter was finalised by the Government.
