AIR MISHAP
FOULS POWER LINE. MAN SUFFERS BURNS FROM ELECTRIFIED FENCE. NEW PLYMOUTH, October 24. Fouling with its undercarriage an electric power line at the aerodrome, a Canterbury aeroplane piloted by K. Johnstone smashed the line and landed practically undamaged. A woman passenger was carried. Tile incident had two startling effects. It put the loud-speaker service f n the air pageant out of action and gave a shock that will be remembered to a “gate-crasher.” The broken power line fell on the fence. A man who was attempting to evade the gatekeeper, tried to crawl under the fence, and burned his hands fairly severely. Eleven machines participated in unfavourable weather in a spectacular; display. • The most notable feature"; was Captain Belt “crashing in flames after being shot down.”
