Rumours are published of a Hitleiitc plot to make President Hindenburg » virtual prisoner at Neudeck, and compel him to agree to the dictatorship of Herr Adolf Hitler. Another rumour suggests that He.i Hitler will be appointed Chancellor. The plans leaked out, and the authorities took precautions. Some papers believe that Herr von Papen’s reign is closing, and that General veil Schleicher (Minister far Defence) will shortly succeed him. - Heir von Papen, replying to Herr Adolf Hitler, says that Germany is only demanding that the other nations should reduce their armaments to a level which, reckoning their special positions, corresponds with German disarmament undqr the Versailles Treaty. VON PAPEN DENIES RUMOUR. BERLIN, October 24. Herr von Papen has denied that the restoration of tho monarchy is immanent, Germany refused to acknowledged that foreigners were competent to decide what was the most suitable constitution for Germany, The German people alone would decide the question. At present it had not even been discussed.
