CHARGE DISMISSED

CASE AGAINST RUNHOLDERS. TIMARU, October 19. In the Supreme Court to-day, before his Honor, Mr Justice Reed, Ernest Ackerman Smith and Charles Munro Smith, charged with failure to provide animals with proper food, were found not guilty and discharged. Mr C. S. Thomas appeared for defendants. The evidence for the defence was that the animals had been feeding on Tinseed, and as a consequence became ill, and in their weak condition they were unable to go to good feed on the higher part of the property. The Judee, in summing up, stated that the evidence of the defence had to he believed. Tt would bo dangerous to convict in such a case.
