CAR SMASH
WOMAN I KILLED. CAR HITS TRAIN. (Per Press Association — c opyright y GISBORNE, October 21. A crossing, near Wuiherere railway station was' the scene of a fatality this morning, when -a car driven by Mite Minnie Duivscombe, wife of J. Dunscomtoe of Gisborne, dame into collision with a train from Motuhora. Mrs Dunscombe was killed instantly and Mrs Elsie Mary Karnshaw wno was in the front .seat with her, was thrown into the back of the oar and had her left leg broken. Miss Laura Earashaw, 10 years old, a. daughter of Mi's Envnshaw, received severe head'injuries. Mrs Eva Steed! and Mrs Florence Willis, who were in the back seat with the girl, escaped bodily injury, but are suffering severely from shock. The party was proceeding from Gisborne to Pulia to spent the day and wiose in the ear apparently failed to notice the approaching train which was proceeding slowly. The car struck the corner of the engine, was thrown over and capsized. A railway employee righted the car and rendered first aid', the injured iiiersons being sent by ambulance to the hospotnl. The car was a new one, and was completely wrecked.
