INTIMIDATION
OF COURT WITNESS. STONE THROWER GAOLED. (Per Press Association — Copyright,) CHRISTCHURCH, October 20. Several times during the past f ew weeks, Harold White Chester, who was a witness in tlie Alagistrate s Coiut in a police case against Herbert Burnsley, who at present is awaiting trial on charges of .Forgery, has been rudely wakened at night by stones crashing through his bedroom window, and threatening injury -to his' wife-Zand himself. A watch was set and James Frederick Andrews, who was caught in suspicious circumstances, appeared in the Police Court this morning. “This sort, of thing won’t be tolerated here,” said Air Lawry, S.AI., after hearing the evidence. “I am quite .sure that Andrews threw a~stone with the intention of intimidating;White.” Andrews was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment.
