ASSOCIATION ENDS ACTIVITY EXCELLENT WORK DONE. WELLINGTON, October 17. The Unemployed Women Workers’ Association, which 1 lias worked for the relief of unemployed girls and women in' its rooms in the Trades Hall for the last five months, has decided to close down for the summer. At the time 1 \the association: was formed in April this year there was a need for some kind of organisation fob unemployed women, and the U.W.W.A. did excellent work in inducing the Government to provide relief in the shape of work, food a nd housing. The Government Bureau in Wakefield Street is functioning well and is well able tcf sustain the relief now obtaining The association urges all uhemployed women to register at the bnfdau and report a least twice weekly anu to take advantage of the ilifeuis Offering here. During its activities the association has helped scores of girls in various ways, and particularly was this so in the beginning of the association, when the Hospital and Charit, able Aid Board rallied to the relief of as many as sixty or seventy women and girls at one time. English and Irish immigrant girls have been equipped with clothes and comforts for the voyage home, and in each case- have been given a little money to land with. In the early part of April next year the executive will meet to review the position and will commence if conditions! warrant. At intervals the association will hold public meetings and members are urged to attend and bring forward complaints regarding prevailing conditions under its notice. Thanks are extended to all the generous people who supported the as. location by donating fcod-stuffs, to trade unions and others for financial support, and to all the women who gave their time and energy.
