AUSTRALIA’S DANGER
A SERIOUS STATEMENT. (Auttralian Press Association.) CANBERRA, October 15. Mr Harrison (U.A.P.), formerly commandant of the 'Royal Military College at Duntroon, speaking on the Budget Estimates in the House of Representatives, emphasised the danger of an inadequate defence force. He declared that Australia would rot always abl e to. 'lean on the British Navy. He described how easy it would be for an invading force to enter the Com* man we alth. The ,/Sitigapore Base in its present tale was actually a bait to draw an enemy. “We are living in this most distant outpost of th e Empire, defenceless, and among other nations ar© fit only to hang our heads in shame at the way we are relying .on their goodwill and the support of the British Empire,” said Mr Harmon.
