BOYS FOR LAND
LARGE NUAfB'EIR- OFFERING. WELLINGTON,. October 12. -The AVellington Boy Unemployment Committee has been continuing ' the work of placing boys on farms and is operating through the agency of the Y.AT.O.A. organisation. To date 156 hoys have been placed upon farms at wages ranging from 5s to 15s per week, depending upon the extent of experience possessed by the boy. Little difficulty has beeu experienced in placing lads who nave had milking experience, 'and who possess good references as to character and conduct. The majority of lads now offering, however, have had no previous experience of farm work and are unable to milk. The committee is anxious to hear from farmers who are able and willing to take on a boy and give him the opportunity of making good. : Tn many cases the lads are unable to pay their Own ifare into the country,. and the usual /custom has been either for the farmers to advance the fare or to refund it after one month’s satisfactory service. Th e registration of boys that are seeking employment is now' proceeding, and this indicates that there is a large number of promising lads from good homes who' wish to obtain useful work.
