CONCILIATION COUNCIL
BUTCHER’S AGREEMENT. GREYMOUTH October 12. Before the Commisioner, Mr S. Riitchie, at a sitting of the Conciliation Council at Greymouth to-day, an industrial dispute was heard between Messrs Groom Bras., butchers, Greymouth, and twenty-three other employers listed, and the Westland Retail Shop Assistants’ Industrial Union of Workers. Assessors were appointed as follow. Employers: -—Messrs D. I. MacDonald Christ" church), S. Stewart, R. E. Groom (Greymouth), H. C. Elley (Westport). Employees: Messrs R. Weeks (Westport), W. L. McDonald (Millerton), J. Goodall (Greymouth), T. Hardie (Greymouth), and P. Salmon (Welington). A full agreement . v : as reached Wages were fixed at: First shopman £5 2d 6d; Second shopmen £4 14s; First small goodsman £5 2s 6d; all other workers £4 5s 6d. The other conditions were practically unaltered.
