BOWLING
OPENING OF HOKITIKA CLUB. The Hokitika Bowling Club opened the season yesterday afternoon. Alter rain in the early morning and a show, er at noon, the afternoon was fine and sunny. The green was in fair order, the recent wet weather making it heavy, but it promises well for season. The President (Mr C. J. King) in addressing these present, including a number of ladies, extended a welcome to all and expressed his pleasure at some new members having joined up, promising all an enjoyable time on the green. Mrs Co.es then rolled up the jack and Mrs King the first bowl, the season being declared open, amidst applause. Good wishes were received in telegrams from the Runanga and Greymouth Clubs. During the a ternouu iviesdames King and Co.es entertained those present at afternoon tea, which was very dainty and enjoyable. The usual game, President v. VicePresident, was tlien played and resulted in a win for the Vice-President by 22 points. Benjamin and King 18 played W. Wilson and Coles 1”. Ward and Lakin 13, played Cooke and Braddon 24. Stevenson, Keileher and Cooper 13, played Breeze, McCassey and J. Wilson 25. Totals- President 44. Vice-Presi-dent 66.
