WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP.
TIMARU, October
The women’s golf championships were continued under entirely satisfactory weather conditions and as on the opening day the play aroused a. great deal of interest and enthusiasm, the progress of the games being followed with unusual keeness. Results:—
N.Z. Singles Championship, . first round.—Miss F. Pringle (Timaru) beat Miss Sheomen (Otago) 4 and 3. Mrs H. Collinson (Mannwatu) beat Miss H. Fleming (Christchurch) 5 and 3.
Miss J. Horwell (Timaru) beat Mrs Gamble (Otago) 6 and 5. Miss E. Macfarlane (Christchurch) beat Mrs Dixon (Invercargill) 1 up on the 19th.
