ROBBER ESCAPES
AFTER A STRUGGLE. ■ AUCKLAND, October 5. - An attack, with robbery as the apparent object, was made on Mr H. Nv Hreston' at Takapuna at midnight on 1 Monday. While he was walking Home in Hauraki Road; ah unknown 'matt appeared' from the shadows and attempted to seize Mr Preston, at the 'same time kicking his legs. Mr Preston 1 threw his assailant, but the man scrambled’to. ‘ his feet and fled .before Mr Prefftdn could close with him. ’ tilt' is Mr Preston’s custom to carry a substantial ; supi of money with him'.
