MELBOURNE, October 5. The semi-final of the Victorian golf championship was played to-day. J. A. Barriskill (New South Wales), withdrew. The other contest was between C. Fawcett, of New South Wales and the local boy champion, Alex Rae. After a wonderful round of sure golf, Fawcett finished the morning’s play four up on Rae. The latter, however, made a brilliant recovery after lunch, winning five of the seven opening holes, after which he was not headed. He beat Fawcett three and one. The winner now plays M. J. Ryan, who has accounted for Sloan-Morpeth in the quarter-final, seven up and six to play.
